Okay so I was supposed to attend a private university for Mechanical Engineering starting this past August but finances forced me to withdraw and I am now attending a community college. Since I lost scholarships to universities, at the moment I am attending community college and living at home. I was going to attend a state university starting next semester but now I'm considering another option. Right now I'd like to major in Mechanical Engineering, DM in Environmental Science, and minor in mathematics.

I need to save money and by living at home it's more reasonable than spending money for an apartment or a dorm to go to this state university (USF, which is 1.5 hours away) so I was considering attending New College of Florida to get some of my Environmental Science and Mathematics classes out of the way while I can, so I can stay at home and save money. Then when I have the money, I want to transfer to USF to proceed with my ME degree. Is this at all plausible? I'm limited on options because of my parents.
