Hi so I've really wanted to go to Stanford since I was really little. I'm a sophomore who just finished her second semester I have good grades in most classes so far, but second semester of freshman year I really screwed up my computer science class and got a D. I used to live in a different country freshman year and I moved to America sophomore year and I got good grades in everything here except for honors english which I got a C+ in. Will colleges such as stanford take me even though I have two bad grades bc I do other extra curriculars such as speech and debate and stuff and I plan to get good scores on standarized tests. I take APs and honors classes, and I hope to get better grades next semester and next year. Will colleges see my upward trend and my rough move from one countries curriculum to another, or have I lost my chances of going to Stanford?

Sorry for my bad spelling and grammar. I was in a hurry.

It’s a lottery…so guessing why or why not sophomore year is a bit pointless.

Below is a link from Stanford’s paper, and it’ll give you a sense of the standards. You also need to be realistic, valedictorians and people with perfect SAT’s are rejected in bunches…

As long as you improve then you have nothing to worry about in fact it creates the impression that you work hard to improve upon failure and are not discouraged by it showing you will be adept to face the challenging curriculum at schools such as stanford
