Today my daughter received an invitation for War Eagle Day 2009 at Auburn University. Has anyone attended in the past for War Eagle Day, and what was it like? Did it cover more information than a normal campus visit (we visited Auburn at beginning of April)? If you attended any of the breakout sessions offered, which one was the most beneficial? Thanks for any replies.

We are going to War Eagle Day on June 8th so I came to the Auburn page for the first time. Why is there so little activity here?

I went to the one this past weekend.
As a daughter of an Auburn alum, I’ve basically been raised to be a Tiger so I knew a lot of the information but it was still very helpful.
I met some applicants who had never visited Auburn and they thought it was a really good, and informative way to learn about a college. It very much felt like they wanted you, personally, to contribute to Auburn’s community. With some other college programs, you don’t get the same warmth.

I highly recommend it :)

I felt that scholarship and financial aid breakout sessions were very helpful. I qualify for a full scholarship :)

We attended on June 8th. It was a good day. Auburn has very loyal alums which speaks well for them.

80% of 2008 Alums rated their decision to come to Auburn as Great (the highest level)
89% of seniors would attend this institution if they started over again
90% of seniors rated their entire educational experience as good or excellent
86% of seniors reported that other students were friendly or supportive

Loyalty is a big thing at Auburn

My daughter and I are attending the October 12th session for War Eagle Days. Anyone from Gwinnett County or metro Atlanta attending?

Looking forward to hearing about your War Eagle visit. I got the impression from staff that this was more of an academic slant rather than the rah rah football type visit. That’s the kind we’re looking for. Wish they had them on the weekend, though.

Keep us posted on your visit! Thanks!

It was WAY more academic than I expected when I went in the summer. In fact, they never really mention athletics although they do mention Greek Life and other student organizations.

My daughter received her admission acceptance this past Monday from Auburn. Thus, more attention to detail by my daughter during this coming Monday’s War Eagle Days.

Congratulations to you and daughter, MetroAtlantaDad. Daughter attended and granddaughter is attending from Metro Atlanta. Auburn treats their Georgia students well. Depending on how many days of school your daughter can miss and whether she will receive some merit money, you may want to use your day out of school for Talon Day.

Granny - Thanks. Now I will have research info on Talon Day. Auburn has been very gracious and welcoming. We have arranged an individual meeting with a representative with the Honors College and for my daughter to attend an Honors class later that afternoon of War Eagle Days

First, the War Eagle Days was better than expected. So much more information than previous tour of campus which we had during the Spring.
The Breakout sessions provided a lot of information. Since both my wife and I accompanied my daughter, we took the divide and conquer appraoch. My wife & my daughter went to sessions together while I chose different sessions. The first six sessions, we attended all except for Greek Life since my daughter was not interested. We overlapped on the Study Abroad session at different times.
The later sessions covering academics and activities was good too. Again, divide and conquer if you can.
The Monday we attended was a miserable weather day, but everyone was in good spirits. My daughter and her BFF attended the War Eagle Days together. Amazingly, both of them loved it. If you visit the campus and talk to the students or read most students reviews, they all love Auburn University.
If you are out of state, then definitely consider attending War Eagle days if you should receive an invitation.

They mentioned that Auburn alums have very high levels of happiness and loyalty about AU. Once we returned home (300 miles in another state) we started noticing AU decals everywhere!

Since attending War Eagle day over the summer, Auburn is where my daughter has her heart set on. They do a great job during War Eagle day. We even paid her tuition deposit Sunday.

War Eagle Day was one of the biggest reasons I ended up choosing Auburn. I urge all of your children to attend if they can :)

War Eagle!
