Warm Weather Schools

My 2024 daughter is tired of the cold weather in Montana. Can anyone recommend any warm weather direct admit nursing program? We are mostly finding cold weather nursing schools. Thanks!

Clemson, UVA, University of Miami, Florida Southern. There are others but most schools in the south are not direct admit. Is she looking for large or small schools, public or private? Financial limits?

She has mostly looked at medium to small size schools. She isn’t too bothered between public or private. Cost isn’t a big issue.

There’s a thread on this subforum (Nursing Major) with a list of direct entry programs. It’s not recent, but was updated in July 2022 and may provide some additional ideas. Of course, you’d have to look at individual schools’ websites for up to date information. Some schools have changed to direct entry, others away from direct entry.

Direct Admit Nursing Programs (■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■)

Arizona State University has both direct admit and competitive secondary admission paths. Direct admit frosh must maintain a 3.5 college GPA in critical / prerequisite courses each of first four semesters to avoid being weeded out (they can apply to get back in through the competitive secondary admission path) (see page 12 of https://nursingandhealth.asu.edu/sites/default/files/2020-21-bsn-student-handbook.pdf ). There is also a lottery if more direct admit students than space available reach the clinical part of the program (obviously, if this occurs, there is no space for competitive secondary admission).

As a Montana resident, the student may be eligible for WUE tuition at Hawaii.
