Warmth of Rooms

How is the temperature of the rooms at Vassar, especially in the winter? Mostly I'm wondering so I can buy the correct bedding. Should I get, say, a very warm down duvet+cover, or are the rooms sufficiently climate controlled to get buy with a quilt and maybe an extra blanket? I'll be living in Davison if it makes a difference.

Thanks.

There’s no air conditioning or heating in the dorms, so I’d suggest a duvet.

hahahahaha

^^There isn’t any air conditioning, but there’s definitely heating. It can still get pretty cold in the winter, since the way it works in most dorms is that one specific room’s temperature changes control the heating for all the other rooms in the hall, so yeah, def get a duvet.

I remember one year the steam heat came on when I wasnt in the room and cooked the plant I had on the window sill above thre radiator. So it got plenty warm! Do they still use the steam heating system?

Does it get too hot during summer?

It’s definitely on the hot side in the summer (you can bring a fan and if you get lucky, AC), but I lived on the 7th floor and up there it was always toasty warm. I slept without a blanket the whole year and was fine
