WARNING about UCSB

Please visit UCSB Confessions Facebook page if you want details of the IV lifestyle and UCSB student mindset. Not sure if all the stories are true, but you’ll notice a trend.

I’m a guy and this the most f***ed up thing I’ve heard in a while. College is supposed to be a time of enlightenment and education. I’m sorry for your friend.

UCSB students need to “take back” I.V.
It’s heavily populated by non-UCSB “kids” who want to party/deal drugs/etc. I don’t think the major problems are (usually) caused by the UCSB students… but they get sucked/lured in to the mess.

I’m a guy, so I don’t really have to worry.

You’re saying guys can’t get raped? l0l.

@nuitari Obviously they can, but this thread is about the prevalence of rape among women. not men.

im so sorry to hear ur frd’s story … i hope her the best and can transfer to a place where is safe

As horrible as this is, the truth is it happens at every college. I currently attend UCSB and am always being told statistics about rape and sexual assault. The first time I believe was at orientation. 1 in every 4 to 5 girls will be raped by the time they finish college here, but I believe that’s about the same as the national average. I’m really sorry to hear about your friend though :frowning: . Rape culture is a nasty thing both here and anywhere and I hope she is able to heal eventually.

Oh, and nuitari, 99% of rapists are men, and I’m not exaggerating that statistic; the victim is almost always female. So while you’re technically right, it’s very unlikely. And Operationivy, I wouldn’t say you don’t have to worry. While you probably wouldn’t be raped, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be concerned for females who do.

Wow I am getting ready to study in the US next year and I’ve never been there before but I’d like to thank everyone for the advice! I will keep all of this in mind for sure.
I am so sorry for your friend, no one deserves this and I hope she knows that she’s got tons of support. I wish her recovery and the best of luck.
