can someone write down their fall schedule who was a warren undeclared student?
I just wanted to figure things out before i get the actual counseling!...
thank you in advance!

My Fall 2009 Schedule was super chill: (but you should decide on your programs of concentrations already)
Warren Writing 10A
Math 20C
Vis 60

thank you! what’s Vis60? so you took three courses? for math 20c did you decide to take it for your future major or…?

Well, look at the majors that you are considering and try a class from one of those and then check out what you want to do for PofCs/Area Studies. Also, try to get into Warren Writing.

vis60 is an introduction to photography class (using digital SLRs)
I took math 20c because I was just following my AP Calculus scores but also because I kinda knew I wanted to be some sort of science major.

thank you. yes i should be in warren writing because i passed both AP LIT and AP LANG.

so… warren writing 10A
Math 20B ?
PS 10

what else can i take as a GE? how is PS10

^Well. What are you considering majoring?

how’s the vis60 class? that counts as a PofC, right?

maybe political science/public policy? i honestly have no idea TT PS10 was one of lower division requirement for that major…
so for fall quarter, freshmen normally take 3 courses? im the type that can’t be accustomed to new setting… so lol.

^Most freshman take 4 courses, which I would recommend consider you’re undeclared. But, if you sign up for 4 courses and decide that it’s too much or you don’t like one of the courses, you can always drop one.

ohh all right. if i have warren writing, math 20A or B idk, and ps10. do i have to take a language? fine arts? i received 800 on SAT… what can be the last 4th one. another PofC?

@orangeicecream: I took Vis60 because I am doing a Visual Arts PofC. The class is actually pretty expensive because you need to buy your own digital SLR camera, memory card, printing paper, etc…,and it can be a bit time consuming because you need to go off campus a lot to take pictures, but overall if you enjoy photography or want to learn, it is a fun class (the professors usually suck at lecturing, but the TA’s are what count!)

what’s warren writing like?

^It’s a small class of no more than 15 people where you write argumentative papers based on a certain course topic. You will get a reader at the beginning of the quarter that will contain articles that will be the basis of the papers you write. Your entire grade is based off of the 3 papers you write in the class but there are multiple drafts of the papers you write and you spend time in class going over your papers with other students and the TA. The papers aren’t long, the longest one being 5-6 pages. And really, it’s not about finding enough BS to fill the paper because honestly you’ll probably have more things to write than what fit into your pages. The hard part about the class is writing a good paper in the amount of pages provided because if you think about it, 10 weeks to write 3 papers gives you plenty of time. Not that it’s scheduled as such, but you know what I mean.

so is it better to take Warren Writing in my first fall quarter? or take it in the next quarter to have some time to get used to the whole system of school.

^Um, I would say since there will be more available options for Warren Writing during fall quarter to try to get it then. Otherwise, there’s no particular benefit to it either way that I see.

oh all right! so most likely everyone will take warren writing, math course, one Pofc and another pofc?

^More or less yeah. Most people might also take a class or two from their major instead of a PofC but since you’re undeclared you’re fine. There’s really no certain way you have to do things which I find nice. UCSD pretty much just gives you a giant list of everything you need to take and says go for it. But, there are some classes that it’s better to take sooner than later like Warren Writing just so you have options on what time you have it.
