Warren Honors

So I have a few questions about the program. If any current students or anyone that knows about it could help?

1) Are there a lot of people in it/ is it recognized at all?
From the information I gleaned off their website, it doesn't seem much different than not being in honors.

2) Warren Writing 11 Series; is it any more interesting than the 10 series?
I suppose I may as well ask whether the grade distribution is different between 10 and 11, too.
And, I know some kids have difficulty getting into Writing 10 A and B when the want to, that the classes are sometimes full. Does the same go for the writing classes?

3) Warren Honors Housing. Okay, so I know you can choose to house with the other honors students. Are the dorms identical to any other dorms? (Probably). Are you any more or less likely to get a triple? (ick).
Any comments about the Honors Housing?

4) Other; are there any other comments about it? Benefits that are more than they'd appear? (I'm an incoming freshman CS major, if that makes a difference)

Bump
10 char

I’m also wondering about this, if anyone has an answer.

1) I dunno

2) Definitely take 11! It’s way, way better than 10.

3) The dorms are the same. It can be nice to live with other smart people.

4) Eh, a pointless organization in my opinion. They should let everyone enjoy the events, not just honors students.

Thanks!

I found out, the program starts out with about 50 kids (freshman) in it. It grows a bit, though, as kids get high enough GPA’s while at SD and get admitted into the program.

I’ve heard that only the top 2 or 3 kids get an A in the Warren 10 series.
Is this true for the 11 series, as well? Or do kids generally do better in Warren Writing 11?

What’s the difference between 10 and 11 series?

Much better grades are given out in WARR 11 (Almost everyone gets As and Bs). However, the caliber of students is also much higher. It’s a much better class than the 10 series - don’t let your fear of grades force you to miss out on a great class.

JTC591, the 11 series is taught by a real teacher (not a TA) and has guest lecturers on various topics. Unfortunately, you can only take it if you got a 700+ on your SATs and meet some GPA requirement.

Speaking of Warren Honors, today everyone in that group gets the chance to meet David Iglesias for an hour before he gives a speech tonight.

so wait…

if you are in warren honors, you take the warren 11 series of writing instead of the 10 series? or do you take both the 10 series and the 11 series?

Ogi

If you’re in honors you can apply for the 11 Series.
You have to submit a graded sample of your writing, though.
You should have gotten an email about that, if you qualify for honors.

I’m a transfer student, so for me to qualify for honors, I have to get a 3.7 or higher GPA for my first 12 units at UCSD …

ok, so looks like I have to do the 10 series regardless…
