Warren towers, west campus, or...?

I am considering Warren or West. Which one is better to live in as a freshman? If you have any other suggestions for freshman housing, I’d appreciate that as well…

Both are very good for freshman. Which one is best for you all depends on what you are studying and what side of campus you will be on. Typically, Warren is far more convenient than West, which is a loooong way down campus.

Totally depends on your college. CGS, SHA, CFA are on the West side of campus. COM, ENG, CAS are next to Warren.

yeah if you're not in SHA CGS or CFA go with Warren which is right next to not only COM ENG and CAS but SAR SMG the GSU Mugar Library and just most of the campus.

what about SEP?

um actually I think that's more towards west campus but really not a bad walk from warren. You'll find that pretty much no matter what school you're in save CGS of course, as a freshman you'll most likely have some general intro courses and stuff in CAS which is directly across from warren. I had most of my classes in CAS this year even though I'm in SAR and most if not all the people in those classes were as well. I can guarantee you two classes in CAS already..the two freshman writing seminars but you'll likely have more.

Warren seems like a much better location overall, and it doesn't really seem too far from CGS (where I'll be next year)

The other advantage of West is that it's next to FitRec, which is a pretty amazing facility. Example: tonight, I was at the pool and there was a water polo class going on in the diving end, while the fitness center was full and I could see a) a yoga class, b) a martial arts class, c) a spinning class, d) rock wall climbing, e) a dance class, and f) squash, handball, etc. being played.

b2700- Warren is actually quite far from CGS. I would highly recommend living at West instead of Warren if that is the school you will be going to every day. Trust me, in the frigid cold of winter, you won't want to walk, so you will rely on the T every day, which isn't always reliable. If you are down at West, the walk is about 5 minutes.

If you're in CGS I would highly recommend that you live in West, it is a the closest freshman dorm to CGS and a lot of people who live in West are in CGS.

thanks for the suggestions...

I wouldn't mind taking the T to class on cold days, and I remember the walk being less than 20 minutes. I mean, on one hand Warren is closer to the center of campus and the city, and on the other hand West Campus is closer to CGS and the FitRec.

Are there any CGS students who live in Warren their freshman year or do the overwhelming majority live at West?

Just bear in mind that those "cold days" is actually a five-month stretch between November and March (or shorter, depending on your heat tolerance).

The walk is about 10, maybe 15 minutes, but much of the time it will be winter. The Allston end of campus has a lot to recommend in terms of eating options, as well as off-campus parties.

BU has 7 or 8 T stops on the B line. The older part of the campus has the ones named BU (like central, west) but West Campus is actually at the Babcock stop and then out to the Packard's Corner stop.

are the classes at the fitrec center free?

Generally. Can't speak for all.

I live in West Currently, and i love it. I feel that Warren is "to much". West has a more campusy feel, and more open. Also, we do have the best dining hall on campus, and fitrec is so convenient. I am actually living in west again next year.

i lived in warren and loved it as a freshman...but i will be an ra in towers :-)

I haven’t SIR’d to BU yet, but if I do I will be a COM freshman…
I’m deciding whether to put West, Warren, Towers OR Warren, West, Towers? I know West is really far from COM and the T is not that reliable during the winter/cold days but I heard that Warren is ok and that West is soo much better with AMAZING food and really close to fitrec, which do you think would be better? How are those dorms in your opinion anyways? Which one is the one that had roaches/rats? Are any of you in COM and live in West and how is that for you? Same thing with those in COM/Warren
