Okay, so I'm an incoming Warren Freshman for Fall 2011. I was thinking about taking some classes over the Summer at a community college, but I also might like to take the Warren Writing courses over the Summer before my Freshman year (10a is offered during session 1, and 10b during session 2.) I was also considering taking a second class on top of each writing course.

So, I'm wondering if this is a good idea. Would accelerated warren writing courses be pretty intense for someone who hasn't really started college yet? And would another course on top of warren writing be too much (just an introductory course to something I'm interested in)? The thought would be to do this and leave Freshman year open to exploring different classes, or to get Phil 27/28 out of the way Freshman year (although they likely fill up with Sophomores pretty quickly, so the former seems much more plausible.)

And if you don't think the Warren Writing courses are a good idea for an incoming Freshman, would you recommend taking any classes over the summer (or would it be a better idea to save the money and go to my local JC for that)?

warren writing is a huge pain in the ass b/c you have **** due almost every class meeting. I’d say if you are willing and want to get it out of the way during the summer you might as well to make the rest of your year easier.

I basically just wanted to leave my freshman year open to more classes to explore different courses (and the extra units would be nice.) I just want to know if it would be too difficult to complete Warren Writing over the Summer. And if you think it’s doable, what about having another class on top of warren writing each session?

^That’s right, I forgot you were undeclared. Well I mean I didn’t take Warren Writing over the summer so I don’t exactly know how it is, but I’m guessing one or two classes wouldn’t be too difficult if you really wanted to.

@Kings (or anyone): So I know you said that the units you take one quarter will not count for the enrollment time of next quarter, but does that apply for Summer sessions and spring quarter? Because I know the Spring quarter grades would come out before you enroll in classes, and I believe summer grades likely would also. Thanks

(I ask because if summer sessions count toward enrollment times for Fall quarter, I could hypothetically come in as a standing sophomore)

^Fall quarter enrollment times are random for first years, but it should count for winter quarter. Sophomore standing doesn’t mean anything special other than just having more units.

Oh that’s right, I forgot about that. Well, I’ll think it over. It would be nice to have a completely free summer in a long time (I’ve had summer reading assignments since Freshman year…)
