Warren Writing Program 10A/B

I've heard stories about how impossible the class is to get an A. Can anyone that has taken the class give me a run through of the level of rigor in the class and the typical hw assignments?

Is it possible to take Pass/nopass for this class? If there is, should I take 10A/B for a p/np since writing has never been my strong point. I do not want to have a B in a GE class lower my overall GPA.

Also, do graduate schools or such look down upon pass classes or do they not care as long as I have below a 25% p/np?

You aren’t allowed to P/NP WCWP 10A or 10B (or the follow-up class, PHIL/POLI 27, either). As for getting the A, it’s possible but it’s more likely to be an A- rather than a solid A. The class isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Depending on the topic (which you will choose in 10B, but not 10A), some of the readings can be really interesting. There’s a total of 3 graded papers that are used to compute your final grade. For each graded paper, you will have usually 3 to 4 assignments (usually summaries, outlines, rough drafts, etc.) that will help you write the final draft. To get help with your writing/revisions, you can always go to the Warren Writing Center or directly to your TA (who are usually really friendly).
