Im an incoming freshman at ucsd this fall. I've heard lots of bad stories about warren writing. is it that hard? what makes it so difficult? woud it be a better idea to take it in the fall or winter? i was thinkin if i take it in the fall, i mite get caught up in studies too much and not socialize as much. can someone who's taken the classs before give me some advice? im a terrible writer and i want to prep for this class as much as i can and make the right choice of taking it in fall or winter.

It’s not that warren writing is necessary difficult as much as that the T.A.s don’t give out As very often. Warren writing is basically a 10 week course with 3 main papers due and some side papers which are drafts of your finals or a summary of what you’re reading. So it’s not too bad as a course but it’s quite annoying to write papers in a style that your T.A. would like. Taking it winter or fall doesn’t make a difference.

That’s the assessment I posted about it in another thread. Although it doesn’t technically matter if you take it in the fall or winter, I would recommend trying to get it in the fall because you’ll have more options on what time you can take it.
