I got an acceptance letter from UB just over a week ago, but it mentions nothing about being accepted into my major. I applied for the Mechanical Engineering program through the SUNY app. Has anyone else’s acceptance letter actually state their major? Or is acceptance into engineering determined at a later time?
I have the same question. My son applied to the Chemical engineering program in Nov. He received a letter in the mail today confirming acceptance to UB but there is no mention of a major.
Same here! I applied to a different SUNY and they mentioned acceptance of my major. Buffalo didn’t mention it.
Buff State directly mentioned that I was accepted into my major in the first sentence. UB mentions engineering nowhere in everything they sent me. UB is still my first choice, but not being directly accepted into my major would be a huge factor in pushing me the other way. I met or exceeded all of the requirements, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
When we called admissions they told us that we will be getting a letter in the mail after the acceptance letter with a login that will give us access to all the info including the major info.
That I got, I just wasn’t able to sign in yet due to the holidays. I’m planning on doing it very soon. I would imagine that I made it based on my SAT/GPA and three very good recommendations from my physics, calculus, and tech teachers.
Just an update for anybody wondering… After logging into MyUB I found a section titled “Applications”. Next to my Fall 2016 application, it listed engineering as my major. So it seems like that I was indeed accepted into the program. I think that as long as you get an acceptance letter, you are automatically accepted into the program you chose.
I also want to do major in mechanical engineering at UB, but they said that for the first sem I have been admitted to intented engineering and that I would need to take some classes for taking major of mechanical engineering. So please could anyone tell me what do they exactly mean? and what is intended engineering?
Sounds like they want you to take some prep classes before they let you matriculate into mechanical engineering. Maybe due to lower goa or stats ? I’d call them and ask them if you need a certain grade in the prep classes to move into MechE.
@“Great player” who told you that?
