About five minutes after I woke up I received a phone call from a Cornell alumnus. She just asked if I had any questions.

Was this an interview? I'm concerned because I wasn't really awake yet and I'm sure I screwed up somewhere.

Some gems from the conversation

Her: Good luck!
Me: you too

That was the alumni contact, yes.

Really? At least you didn’t drag it out. I once had an interview that ended like:

Him: Good luck!
Me: You too… I mean, uh, not good luck, er, well, good luck with stuff, and yeah…

We only talked for about three minutes tops…eek.
I live in a fairly small town and I’m sure there’s no alumni in the area, is that why she didn’t schedule an interview?

Yep. Ideally she would have told you that she would call back again at a later date for further questions, but don’t worry about it. It’s not going to hurt you.

Yikes. I hope this doesn’t happen to me. I usually wake up VERY late and am incomprehensible if I am half-asleep. My conversation would go more like:

Interviewer: (Insert any form of speech here)
Me: Hajiiergviaerj

dont worry about interviews. they are pretty worthless… my interviewer from cornell “interviewed” 16 of us at the same time in a room. i didn’t even say a word. infact about 4 people out of the group said something. i went in, signed in, waited til it finished, and left

I had an ‘interview’ today. I got contacted via email. We met up and talked for an hour
I had a lot of questions i hope it helps me!!

The interviews account for nothing unless you’re applying to one of those colleges that require one… like hotel.
