Was it a Bulldog Bloodbath?

Hey all, I'm one of the victims from the Stanford Slaughter and i just wanted to know how the Yale decisions were like this year? Were they as seemingly random as Stanford's seemed? Or did Yale recognize the more "traditionally accepted" student?

(ex. were there ppl rejected with SAT 2350+, val, 800s on SATIIs?)

I'm not sure about the randomness, but it was pretty rough in terms of numbers. 13.4 accepted? That's harsh.

denied: 800s on chem and math II, val, 32 ACT ^_^

Denied with straight A's, 2340 SAT, 800's on Math 2, Literature, and US History. And I'm Mexican.

I saw a lot more positive results for people with exceptional grades + test scores.

And this definitely wasn't as bad as Stanford, given the huge % of deferred.

Deferred.

1 B in freshmen year, National awards in science, single mother- raised, best public in California, hardest courseload, top 100 of age in chess, more, etc. 780 CR and W, 750 Math, 800s in Chem, Bio E and Math 2c.

I'm sorry Yale, but I don't know what else I could have done. I guess I'll have to see if other colleges want me more.

Bulldog Bloodbath indeed. Twice as many rejected as last year! Half as many Deferred! Admittance rate down 5%! Seems quite bloody to me...

"And this definitely wasn't as bad as Stanford, given the huge % of deferred."

well i heard somewhere that a Stanford rejection is equivalent to a Yale deferral because Yale doesn't really do rejections during EA (or at least as crazy as Stan.)

Deferred here, but this wasn't nearly as bad as Stanford. Me and another student got deferred from our school, while the best student (and with at least one great EC) was rejected outright at Stanford. It's always going to seem random who's accepted or not here, given that all you can really see are test scores, personal info (area/ethnicity), and people's own opinions of their ECs. (not really GPAs b/c schools all have different systems.)

I was deferred with 2400 SAT, 2400 SAT II, 4.0 GPA, rank 1 and 5s on APs.

^yeah, quite similar here. deferred with 2400/800/800, straight A's in most challenging curriculum, 5's on all AP's I took. Also varsity sports, community service, music, clubs (including an officer position).

whatevs =(

I was rejected (not deferred, but actually rejected) with 2400 SAT, 800 Math Level 2, and 5s on 5 AP tests. And I'm ranked 98% of over 500 seniors at my public school.

Oh well. While I cannot say that the other highly qualified applicants getting rejected makes me feel better, I think we can all agree that not getting into one of the toughest schools in the world, while certainly a disappointment, is not devastating.

what about those rejected?

EDIT: Calixus, wow.

I was deferred with a 2210 SAT, 620 and 670 on my SAT IIs (Math II and Literature, respectively), and only one AP class... that I'm taking this year.

Who knows?

Deferred also. Woot!
2130 SAT, above 700 SATIIs
33 ACT
Lots of great ECs
I'll have to check out that thread.

This is for rejections of people with those stats, not deferrals. So me and Calixus, roughly. Yep.

Holy $hit at Calixus and TheWerg's rejection. That is effing ridiculous.

Rejected
2300 SAT, 34 ACT
GPA: 3.8, hardest courses possible, top 4%
three 5s and one 4 on APs
NMS, regional and national debate awards
ECs: Captain of Debate Team, Yearbook Editor

You rejected smart kids must be joking. :)

yeah seriously what the hell? I guess now I can rest knowing that getting into Yale isn't a real measure of your success. You guys are great, and because you're some of the most well qualified students in the nation, you're going to do great.
