-5 (4 wrong) = 730.

Taking the test, I thought that CR was only a little bit easier than average. But it looks like we had the worst curve in several years if I'm not mistaken.

Taking the test, I thought that CR was only a little bit easier than average. But it looks like we had the worst curve in several years if I'm not mistaken.

Considering -2 was a 790, this is the worst CR curve in recent history.

…That sounds terrible.

Although, I do have to say, I thought the CritRead was the easiest section of the entire SAT. :\ Easier than the math, grammar, and the essay.

Yea, the curve killed me :/

I got -4 (3 wrong) and I got a 750. If I had gotten two wrong, I would’ve gotten a 790…40 points for one question :(

That just sounds ruthless, and I feel sorry for the people who lost 40 points for something like a bubbling error, or for running out of time, or for something annoying like that.

Ouch was it that bad Why is that way, I have never exactly learned why the curve varies so much. I got a 660 on it, not as good as you guys. Good job though :)

big dreamer, how many did u miss. I missed 10 questions for a 65 epic fail

1 question wrong for an 800

lol even though I did bad (680) this thread makes me feel good because that means the curve MUST be better in March, making my 720+ much more attainable.

Will the curve really be better in March? How does one know when the curve will be better?

I’d be so happy if the curve was better in March. It will be my first time taking the test (aside from numerous practice tests).

3 questions meant a 750. i was expecting a 770 or something because i knew i got 3 wrong before hand so that was pretty unexpected D:
I actually thought the cr for this test was harder than the one in december so i was expecting a similar or better curve. darn vocabbb why does my memory suck i can’t memorize vocab words

-40 for one CR question is outrageous. ETS statisticians should be ashamed of themselves.

3 wrong with 1 omit gave me a 730 also. What has the curve been like in the past?

It isn’t really because of merely one question; rather, it is the cumulative effect of incorrectly answering three. It is harsh, though.

Wow that is harsh, how many questions were actually tricky? I got a 740 on the December SAT CR with -5, 0 omit.

^The ETS “guessing penalty” assumes that students are guessing. However, students scoring above a 700 rarely make random guesses. At this level of achievement, the “guessing penalty” is really a means of lowering the scores of top students. A -40 for one question is unprecedented and totally unfair.

The more I think about this -40 because of one wrong answer the angrier I get. The “new” and not improved College Board site ought to have a feedback spot where students can voice their complaints.

First of all, nice name lol I made a mistake, I got a 650 on CR. I missed 10 as well. Hey we epicly failed together lol! :o

This curved was really bad for me because I usually don’t get any passage-based questions wrong, even on supposedly “hard” CR practice tests. So with -2 SC off of some pretty stupid, read-the-question-and-choices-too-fast questions, I ended up w/ a 790 Cr and 2390 overall. Oh, so close…
