I vaguely remember seeing that the calculation was revised this year and was more heavily weighted toward test scores versus GPA than it was previously? Am I imagining this? Cant find a reference to it now.

The last revision I’m aware of was last year when class rank was replaced by GPA. I have heard talk about putting more emphasis on standardized tests, but I don’t believe that’s been adopted yet

Thanks much, Varska…I must have read about the possibility!

GPA varies widely among schools. My son’s HS has a very strange system, so we set up a spreadsheet to calculate his “normal” unweighted GPA. His school does not offer class rank however.

This is what I found about AI on CC:
[Academic Index3 - College Confidential](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/academic_index3.htm)

I assume the caveat about AI ranking is for the general student population. I know that above 176 (I think) is minimum acceptable for student-athletes. But if my son has 190 AI, is that still very rare to get recruited?

The article called: “A Rare Glimpse Inside the Ivy League’s Academic Index” on the NYT website from January 2012 has some interesting information.
