<p>I submitted 330 words for my short answer. I put "PLEASE REFER TO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION" in the short answer box and put the answer in the additional information section. The meat of the answer was lost with 150 words, and I don't think the 330-word essay is boring, either. Am I dumb or can that possibly be a good thing? You can read it if you need to in order to give me a good answer.</p>

<p>The goal of the short answer section of the common application is to assess your ability to construct a complete, compelling, convincing response/writing sample within a limited space, namely 150 words. It would have been a much better idea to simply follow the instructions.</p>
<p>I understand. It's just my college counselor convinced me it was a great essay and I should just put it in the way it was. Do you think they'd change their decision based on an extra 150 words?</p>
<p>Lol, obviously I'm not on any admissions committees, but if your essay was truly that amazing, you probably should've just sent it in later as a paper copy, personally addressed to the schools, as supplemental information. Just my opinion really :D. Send me your essay? I'm curious now :P</p>
<p>My original was 280 words btw, but after some peer editing, i was able to shorten it and still be happy with it :D</p>
