The following letter was published in our local paper:Northwest Herald | U of I loses family
Basically, in case the link doesn't work, the letter states that this very talented student was denied admissions to UIUC engineering school because of corruption. Though I do believe that there is corruption at UIUC and all other colleges and universities to some extent, I find it hard to believe that this student was denied solely due to corruption. Opinions anyone?

Funny how they don’t mention any recent credentials for their son. He scored a 800 in Math in 8th grade? Great…what did he score as a junior/senior when he is taking the real SAT test. I think it is a case of sour grapes. If he had a “great college experience” elsewhere…why are they complaining?

If his scores had stayed high - I can’t believe UIUC would turn down a top applicant because of corruption. I guess it is possible, but very hard to believe, I feel there is more to the story, like his later scores being much lower - but who knows?

What is the ‘corruption?’ I’m not really sure that term means in this context.
