Vandy is mentioned a lot for being generous with aid. I am curious if this held true this year. Will you list the kind of financial packages you received? How much money were you given in grants? I don't care so much about the loans since they have to be payed back.

heck yes they were extremely generous with my financial aid package... they gave me about $40,000 fin.aid package, but 3,300 was the TN lottery scholarship, and about 34,000 was in grant money.. I am not accepting it b/c I'm going somewhere else, but they basically met 100% of my need--my efc was like 8000, so it was extremely great of them to offer that much

they offered me about 37,000 in grants which doesnt even include scholarships...i was shocked when i opened the package. very generous.

Yep. I got $32,000 in Grants and Scholarships. $4,000 in loans.

Vanderbilt had the best financial aid of any place I applied (well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed since I STILL haven't gotten my fin aid from MIT). My FAFSA EFC was $875. I got scholarships for tuition and a grant from them to cover room and board, so I ended up with $2,500 in loans (which I won't have to pay because of national merit) and a bill for the parental units of ~$1000. It made Vandy quite appealing.

I got 8k in grants, 10k in loans...EFC screwed me over - 55k - more than half our income. I'm so glad the css profile has that section at the end allowing you to explain your situation.

I got 2k in loans, which i guess is good because i really didnt think they would help me at all

I thought vanderbilt was extremely generous. They met 100% of my demonstrated need, which was about $29,000. It easily eclipsed any of the other schools I applied to.

i haven't gotten my finaid package. i turned everything in on time....

I know two applicants who were both offered enough money to meet 100% of need. The offers included a reasonable amount of work-study and a small loan. The rest was in a grant. Very, very generous by any measure.
