was your interview, an interview or a conversation?

How did yours go? like non-stop questions, or did the interviewer just drop the questions and had a regular 1 hr chat about anything?

an interview. he asked questions. like favorite class, least favorite class, why is ____ my favorite subject, what do i like about his uni, etc. i asked questions about study abroad, how the uni has changed since he went there, etc. i think i talked too much about other schools...oh well.

You are dealing with individual personalities, and one person's interview style will be different than another's. Try to be prepared to handle whatever an interviewer throws your way, whether it be Q&A or a conversation.

conversations so far. I've asked as many questions as they have.

i've varied. i had one where it was literally question after question, and no conversation.

but i've had two other ones where i think i've managed to make friends with my interviewer in the span of my interview. coincidently, both of them were interested in science and weren't very good at asking questions. so we just talked science. i shared stories, they shared stories. we talked relatively little about the stuff most interviews talk about. one of the interviews lasted an hour and a half and only ended because we got kicked out of the conference room. when they asked the required question, they asked them in a tone of voice that clearly said "well, since i have to do this"

personally, i think that's a lot better. at least for me. if u become friends, they're going to write u a good recommendation.

"both of them were interested in science and weren't very good at asking questions"

that made me laugh :)

I had an interview slash conversation. It was a weird 2 hour hybrid.

I also had a 2 hour conversation with a 10 minute interview at the end. It went well though.

i had an interview at starbucks. mine was about 15-20 min. she asked questions and i asked questions.

is it normal for an interview to be so short?

I am excited about my interviews. Haven't had them yet.

I hope they're like psycho-cool/comfortable! I love those kind of interviewers (As opposed to interviewers that stare at you stoically) I can talk to anyone tho-- won't be a problem. :)

half an hour, them asking questions with an opportunity for me to ask questions at the end.

Interviews are usually conversation-based. However, experienced interviewers will usually make you relax and from there, they can garner some ideas about you. For example, my Kenyon interviewer actually asked me... "So Peter, it seems to be me that you have a good vocabulary... so do you read a lot?"...

My Yale interview was a three-hour-long political grilling-session. Oh my effing lord it was hard.

The other interviews were conversations and quite pleasant except for my Tufts interviewer who acted like she'd rather be elsewhere.

my princeton interview kinda sucked.....i expected a conversation with a recent princeton graduate but the interviewer turned out to be an old man and asked me questions like a strict teacher would!!! So much for my enjoyable and interactive conversation.

My friend's MIT interview was chaotic!!! The interviewer asked him about his club activities and accomplishments and my friend didnt have many so he started lying. The interviewer found this out and he even ended the conversation by saying "MIT is not the place for you!"
yaa....he withdrew his MIT application after that. That ought a teach him for lying!
Can you believe it-- he said that he organized a national event in the school that was featured on television!! When the interviewer asked him the details of the event......he fell silent!!! :- {
