<p>Is there somehow a disadvantage to taking a spot on the waitlist? WashU's says accepting a spot on the waitlist "can be a tough decision." Am I missing something?</p>

<p>Oh well, this kind of surprised me, but I don't know if I would have attended WashU if accepted. This was the only school that wan not need-blind during the admissions process and I believe that played a factor.</p>

<p>Question: It says they will notify you if you are offered a spot off the waitlist by June 30, but don't you think in general they will notify you before this?</p>
<p>Just fyi. I think that the letter said 1400 incoming freshman. With a 30% yield (I think that's what it was) that is about 5000 acceptances and a 20% acceptance rate, not 10%. That's my estimate.</p>
<p>Washington U accepts about 3800 applicants a year according to U.S. News and World Report. However, seeing this many applicants getting accepted... is that really true...? Or is Washington U just self-selective by nature?</p>
<p>FB lalaland: also, most people who get accepted will post, a lot of kids who get rejected won't be posting that fact.</p>
