wash u in st. louis, u mich, emory, georgia tech

I was wondering, which one is better overall? I am entering biomedical engineering. I am looking for an enjoyable college experience.

wash u in st. louis, u mich- ann arbor, emory, georgia tech

Would u please list from best to worst choice?

Thanks! :)

im trying to decide.

I'd recommed georgia tech or U. Mich since they are very well respected for their engineering departments. I know that Gatech is esspecially good in med eng. but if you are looking for more 'fun', then I would go with Umich since these U.s are very similar, but UMich seems like it is more fun.

If you are a hs junior (or younger) and haven't already applied, consider Tulane - very highly ranked in biomed, great atmosphere for a fun college experience.

correct me if I'm wrong but Emory doesn't have engineering, and Tulane is getting rid of theirs.

that is correct. However, emory does have some kind of joint program with Georgia tech so you might be able to get away with that.

yes i believe that gatech and emory have a joint program, butI feel that gatech is too focused, being that it is a technical school. Emory i am not sure.

Tulane has lost the majority of their Eng. school but will continue with Biomedical, Biomolecular and Chemical engineering.

im not thinking about going to tulane.

i have already applied to my colleges already. I don't need to apply to anymore schools. Now I am trying to make a decision.

I know that UMICH is rated 8 in biomedical. Wash U is 16

Well, GA Tech and Emory are in ATL, which is a fun city. But, you'd also have to work somewhat hard at GT, but it's worth it.

Have to vote in favor of WashU. D is freshman in BME program there.

The program began in 1997 and has rapidly climbed the ranks. They have a 1 year old, state of the art BME building and have been hiring new faculty from established programs from around the country to support their growing program. They have the advantage also of being connected with the #2-3 Med school in the country. Many research opportunities are available to the undergrads here. You can look online to see the possibilities.
D LOVES the school as a whole! The campus is beautiful. The students are friendly, competitive w/o being cutthroat. The faculty seems to appreciate that the students have chosen to be at WashU and she has received great instruction and advice from them. The head of her dept. knows her by her first name! She's had the opportunity to become involved with several organizations on campus and participated in MANY community service projects so it's not all studying. There are tutors available at no cost if you find you need additional help, but D has had the most success by being in student study groups. They are all friends, too, so this helps. (All friends she has made since coming to WashU. She didn't know anyone when she got to campus.)

If you haven't gotten the chance to visit, go! D knew almost immediately that WashU was where she wanted to be when she visited.
