Do you qualify for any need based aid? How much will your parents pay?
Would you add diversity (ethnic or regional ) diversity to the campus?
Your ECs are rather typical. Schools like this have all top students so merit tends to go to students who either help their diversity numbers or would likely get accepted to an ivy…so the goal is to poach the student.
Are you looking for a school to ED at?
What is your career goal?
mom2collegekids, i don’t really qualify for any significant need base aid, but parents don’t wanna pay:/ Yeah Im looking for a school to ED to but I heard that if you apply ED, you have a less chance of getting any merit… do you know if thats true?
@sglavine ok thanks for the help!
WashU gives very little merit aid. You will have to do their scholarship competition and be at the very top of their admitted class.
You cannot apply ED if you are not able to go full-pay. You can apply early (just don’t check the ED box, check RD) to show interest. Applying in multiple coleges early, but checking the RD box, is the best way to try to get multiple merit awards to compare. Use collegedata.com to identify schools that give more merit than WUSTL to add to your list.
I really can’t say, but I know chances are probably lowered since you’re a ravenclaw. Now if you were a gryffindor it would be different.
Start applying to external merit-based scholarships…they’re all over the internet. Good luck
