I'm a gal who needs some serious advice.
Basically I gotta pick one of these two, I have
a basket of wait-lists, but no counting on those.
I'm kind of indifferent, probably because I'm west
coast and know nada about these schools. I'm
social for sure (sororities?) but want strong academics
also. I'm also in GWU,SMU but they're out.
Thanks

Any way you can visit them this month? Go for 2 days and stay one night?

I can’t give too much info about Emory, as I didn’t apply there. However, concerning WashU’s social scene:
There definitely are parties at WashU, but remember that these are second to academics. Also, while there are 7 (i think that’s the number) sororities at WashU, there are NO sorority houses, so that would be out of the question.
Also, if location is important, I believe Emory is more within the city. WashU is on the outskirts of St. Louis, so you must take the Metro to get to that “city feel.”

I lived in Atlanta for 3 years (Ga Tech for grad school). Emory’s setting is very similar to Wash U’s in that you also have to take MARTA to get into Atlanta, but it is near the city in a very “leafy” and otherwise residential area.
