Wash-U or Princeton?

Guys. I am so torn.
I have been accepted to Wash-U and Princeton, and I have to say I dont know what to do. I am in love with Wash-U, having been flown up for a visiting program in the fall of 2004 and flown up once more during the scholarship weekend. I was just informed that I am officially an Annika Rodriguez Scholar if I enroll, and thus would be part of an incredible community which I have grown to love at Wash-U.

The thing is, I was also accepted to Princeton--a school which I am sure many would agree is more prestigious than Wash-U. I will be visiting Princeton this weekend, where I will be making my final decision. I need some help--will you help me? Post your opinions/observations/recommendations.

--Torn from Miami, FL--

If you're paying full at Princeton, go to Wash U, hands down.
(I think rodriguez is full tuition, right?)

If they're within, say, 2000 per year, I"d say Princeton, just for the name, unless Princeton's program thats you're majoring in are far far better than Wash U, but I doubt it, cuz Wash U's pretty good overall.

Yeah, I agree with HelloAll. Its an honor to achieve such a scholarship at Wash U and I'm assuming you'll be paying a hell of a lot less for an equally good education. I personally wouldn't goto a place for the name, but for where I'll be happy for four years.

Which is why I'm going to Wash U :)

Don't make your decision based on the name or prestige. If you truly like Princeton better w/out the name, and money isn't a big issue, then go there. Otherwise, come to washU

Honestly, Princeton's prestige/name recongition might be enough to choose it over WashU.

You should choose fit over prestige. You seem really into WashU. I don't think it's prestige can make up for being a better fit somewhere else. You sound really enthusiastic about WashU, can you feel that same way about p-ton?

I think choosing Wash over Princeton would be a very dumb move. I've always felt like, if you're smart enough to get into Princeton, Yale, Harvard, you should go.

But what if your not happy there? You should deffinatley goto the school you will be the most happy at. And plus, if you want to succeed, the college is not going to decide that. I mean, you could goto Princeton or Wash U and do absolutely nothing. But if you were really motivated, you could goto either and do well at either. The name shouldn't make your decision, but how you feel towards the college itself.

[size=+5]PRINCETON !

PRINCETON .

omg..... there should be no indecision....pton all the way!!!

ok about happiness? if you go to wash u, theres a serious chance you could regret ur chance at one of the elite institutions. however if you go to princeton and dont like it, it would be incredibly easy to transfer. like hello said, if money is not an issue for you, go to princeton. princeton offers great aid.

cya this fall =P

princeton. one of the most elite schools in the country with a pretty good location. By Car, It's about an hour to philly and 2 hours to nyc.

by train, 1 hour to nyc. (and as a college student, youd prolly use a train)

One thing that bothers me, princeton has no med school. What's your major?

Princeton.....why is this even an issue?

if you're planning on majoring in anything other than some sort of biological science, princeton no doubt, unless like people have said, it's a free ride at wash-u vs. full bill at pton.

If it's a free wash-u education vs. a full pay pton one, then i'd probly go with wash u, it's still very good, and you'll have an extra 120k.

Ahh all this time you've been on the Princeton board saying you're definitely going to go and getting us all riled up! I feel betrayed :(

But yes, you should choose princeton because you can transfer from pton to washU a lot easier than vice versa (as pton doesn't even have the transfer option...)

I agree. Why are you asking these questions if you are on the Princeton board saying that you will attend?
