I cannot decide! I live 20 minutes away from UCLA (which is not really much of a concern for me anymore). I would be going into the college of art for both schools (for photography) and I want to double major in art/photography and film. I also want to take dance, science, and psychology classes. And learn French! I like the friendliness of Wash U and there aren't as many requirements so I am more likely able to get all the stuff I want to do done! But I like the idea of doing requirements at UCLA because I can explore so many different things.

Wash U places interns in New York (which I love, NYU was my first choice but I can't afford it), but UCLA is more connected to the movie business.

I don't really care about class size - I'm pretty adaptable when it comes to that. In your opinion, which is the best school to study all that stuff? (Oh and at UCLA I have priority when I choose classes so trying to fight for a class I want to be in shouldn't be as hard as normal.)

You seem to understand all the parameters involved, so I am afraid no one can really help you much with this. Clearly there are significant differences in the weather, size of the schools, sports scene, and for you the change of scenery that would be involved. Personally I think everyone should get at least 300 miles from home, but that’s just me. And you do have the whole film industry thing going on. I assume UCLA would be less expensive, but since you didn’t mention this at all I will assume it isn’t a factor. So if those other factors aren’t swaying you one way or the other, frankly I cannot imagine what anyone can say that will help you. But who knows, maybe someone will have an insight I haven’t. Wouldn’t be the first time.

P.S. If you do pick Wash U just don’t regret it when it is 15 degrees and -10 wind chill, as I told another student that was considering USC, I think it was.

Definitely UCLA. It is so close to the biggest film industry (Hollywood) in the country. So what if Wash U places people in New York? There are tons of internships that UCLA would offer as well.
