wash u scholarships?

Anyone know how strictly Wash U observes their deadline for scholarships. They are one of the few schools i know who have a "received by" rather than "postmarked date" of Jan. 15. Anyway, i was going to finish it and send it off Thursday rush delivery...but then my school counselor (who i am getting a recommendation from) told me that the school has to mail it in since its confidential...so now i'm bringing it in tomorrow, which still gives enough time except i dont know if my school does rush delivery...

anyway, what will happen if it gets there like 2 days late?

how would they know whether or not the school has mailed it in.

I think that they are pretty strict- if you think about it, the fewer applicants for the scholarships, the easier it is for the admissions councelor. If you miss the date by more than a day, I don't think you will be considered

i'm also completing the scholarship process for wash u, and im a little pressed for time since the deadline is like 4 days away.
personally mailing it out buys you a little bit more time if you rush deliver it, but giving it to your school would take much longer for it to be sent out. i called wash u to check their policy on who its sent by, and they said its ok to assemble everything yourself as long as the envelopes containing recs and transcripts are sealed and confidential.

Its to be postmarked on the 15th right ?

nvm, it says by. my bad. I am going to send it by courier tomm.

my school wouldnt let me send it out by myself. they do regular first class mail but i told them i needed priority mail so they let me give them the envelope with the priority mail stamp. as long as you pay for the overnight delivery and give your school the correct envelope and stuff they should do it for you.

I guess it's a little to late now to post this, but I'm pretty sure the directions in the scholarship booklet said mail everything in as one package. Now I don't think they'll care too much if your school sends it in separately, but there's no reason why you're school shouldn't give the recs to you if the directions advice them to.

I agree and WAShu says the deadline has been postponed to the 18 th. MAde me wasted 12 bucks bah!!

Where did it say the deadline had been postposned to the 18th?

its my schools policy not to give recs or official transcripts to students. instead I had to have everything dropped off to my councelor and she sent it out. unfortunately one of my teachers didnt know to give it to the councelor and he mailed it himself. i called washu and they said it was perfectly ok. awww..i wasted money on overnight too! :(

lol sorry for the typos. Anyway I received an email telling me i was missing my SAT scores and along with that was this information.

is there any way we can check the status of our scholarship apps?

Check scholarship booklet and website please.

heya,

out of curiousity, did anyone apply for the mylonas?

I applied for the Moog

By the way- I found out today that you can check to see that your application is complete for the scholarships by calling the University- supposedly the decisions will be mailed between mid March and late March. Good luck!

niice. good luck to you too, and anyone else applying!

mylonas was the humanities one, right? (hey, they have funny names...what can I say?) Yeah, I applied to that one.

how do you even pronounce mylonas?? haha, i'm gonna say my-low-nus for now.
