Wash U vs. Emory

Which one's better for pre-med?

granted that Emory has the CDC and extensive medical centers...one cant escape the fact that WashU's med school is unrivaled by any in the south or midwest. Hence this creates a halo effect that extends to the ugrad as well...well...i would assume. haha sorry i couldnt be of more help but from what I hear, WashU pre-med is better

Pre- med is only as good as what med school it gets you accepted to. With that said, and we can agree its a valid point, this ranking seems to show Emory as being some what better at placing undergrads at top med schools. Even though I'm sure this ranking is flawed, just like the rest of them, I think it's a tad bold to call WashU pre-med better.

one must keep in mind that that isnt just for med school
also that study is from 2002?2003? granted 3 years isnt that long of a time, but for Washu, an institution which shot up the rankings in the past 10 years or so, im sure that that percentage has increased. But jkh has a point, I dont know if anyone could definitively state "WashU is better" or vice versa

Isn't Wash U incredibly strong in its biology dept?

In 2007 USNWR graduate school rankings, WashU's biology is ranked No. 9, while the med school is No. 4.

What I've heard is that Emory's pre-med program is a bit less intense, and thus people generally recieve a higher GPA and with Emory holding similar prestige to Wash U the students get into more medical schools... I could be wrong about this however

Also, while I agree that Wash U has been on the up and coming, so has Emory in a similar manner.. Both have experienced an extremely high amount of apps over the past couple of years
