I recently was accepted to Wash U was given a generous scholarship but am still going to have to come up with about $18,000 (ouch) if I attend. I really love Wash U but the money is tight, I've talked to the financial aid officers and they were nice and helped me the best they could, but it's still a lot of money.

So my question is: Would I be better off going to University of South Carolina Honor's College where I could live on campus for less money or would I have a better experience living with family in St. Louis as a freshman to make it work financially?

I know this is an odd question, but I'm stressed and May 1st is coming up

I’m fairly certain freshmen from outside of St. Louis are required to live on campus. It’s possible you could get an exception since you would stay with family, but I wouldn’t count on that as a means to reduce the cost. A lot of the freshman social experience involves activities with the rest of your floor, so you’d miss out on a lot of the intangibles of Wash U.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, That’s what I was worried about with living with family DJEueka, so I think I’ll be probably better off going to University of South Carolina Honor’s College (which just ranked #1 in the country).
Thanks again, I just needed some opinions to back up my thoughts.
