God help me, I love them both, yet a threesome is out of the question...

I'm trying to decide between the two and I'm a humanities person. (Btw, what are the humanities programs like at Wash U? I've heard good things about the JHU ones but very little about Wash U's.)
Actually, I'd be glad to take any advice on how to make the decision- it doesn't have to be specific to the school. Is there any criteria that you guys think is essential to cover? Any decision making techniques that you think are helpful? What should I consider in order to make a decision that will make me the happiest?

(I realize this is fairly open ended given it's me-centric, but I realized that there's lots of criteria that's important that I hadn't thought to add.)

i definitely had to make this same exact decision.

i chose washu mostly because of the atmosphere. but i know exactly what you mean. theyre both amazing schools. maybe you should go to jhu and after 4 years we'll compare notes.

At least 5 people from my school were accepted into JHU, but only 1 has decided to go. I think the cut-throat, unfriendly atmosphere at JHU may be turn-off. I also heard the surrounding city can be quite dangerous.

yeah we had 10 kids get into JHU, only 1 decided to go. when i was a prospective student, i did a little research. baltimore can be a scary place. in terms of overall environment, wash u is a lot better. it's more laid back, less cutthroat competition but im biased cuz it's my first choice school.

i live just outside baltimore city. I hear JHU is pretty bubbled off from the city, but you will eventually have to go in balt. city for some reason. There are really only a couple nice parts of the city, and i dont think JHU is near any of them. All in all, i don't like it, and that should be something you consider.

BS. Walk out of the JHU campus walk ~5 mins and you'll hit one of the richest neighborhoods in the city. Of course when people get here they do also see the ghetto on the other side of campus. But I'm at JHU and I feel perfectly safe right now. As for the cut-throat, that's a myth that just doesn't seem to die.
