I am looking to study psychology, economics, or sociology/social thought & analysis (the major offered at WUSTL).

I'm most concerned with the quality of teaching, opportunities for undergrad research, and strength of academic programs (particularly in the social sciences).

I'm pretty sure that U Mich has a stronger econ department as a whole - I do know that they're often cited in economic indicator research and analysis. As for teaching quality and UR possibilities, not sure. The larger classes at U Mich (or ones that are broken up in to smaller groups like Calculus) will be taught by GSIs (grad student instructors), but not sure about your majors specifically.
