Wash U vs Wesleyan

Hey guys, so I've narrowed my college choices down to Wash U and Wesleyan, but I'm having a really tough time deciding between the two of them. I just returned from WesFest, and loved it, but I am visiting Wash U tomorrow. Some facts about me: I'm interested in the sciences, particularly biology, and could see myself going premed or getting a phd in some biological field. I play a few sports, play some video games, and like to go out on weekends. I'm pretty social, but can be somewhat awkward in novel environments/situations. Does anybody have any advice or insights he or she would like to give me to help me decide? Thanks.

We too just returned from WesFest. I expect you can see yourself doing research at Exley as an undergrad, likely being paid by some of the $25m pa the US govt affords Wes, more than any other comparable institution? Wes appears likely one of the best places to get onto a pre-med track and stand an outstanding chance of admittance to a top grad program, I’m not sure WashU could do that, I’m sure it would be good, but really, St Louis? vs Connecticut, top LAC vs pretentious private Mid-West university, that I really don’t think stands at the top of any league table. Our DS did not apply to Wash U but did go to a HS info sess and his interest ended there!, that said for a time he assume Wash U was in DC!. I honestly think you would have a happier time and be in a better place going to Wes.

^ Englishman you clearly do not know much about Wash U. Wash U has one of the best pre-med tracks in the country and if you’re willing to work it will get you where you want to be. And pretentious private Mid-West? Sounds like you’re just hating on Wash U rather than telling him what the school is really like.

@satsarecool How was your visit to Wash U? Did you find the students to be pretentious? After my visit I was sold.

@Sammvp1‌ I really enjoyed my visit to Wash U. My cousin is a sophomore at Wash U and has given me a great impression of the school. In the past few weeks I have been vacillating between Wesleyan and Wash U…I would like to finally make my decision tonight…

Both will get you where you want to go; both are fantastic. I think it comes down to big school vs. small school. Do you want a place where everyone lives on campus and you’ll always see someone you know when you go to the campus center, or a larger school in the 'burbs of a major city?

Well goodluck, and make sure to crack open a big bottle of Dom Perignon!

PS. GO BEARS!!

I officially committed to Wash U, and could not be more excited. :)

Congratulations! Maybe I’ll see you on campus
