Wash University vrs Pomona

S accepted to Wash U RD and also top LAC including Pomona, Swarthmore, Middlebury and Bowdoin. They are all great schools. He is having a hard time finalizing a decision on where to go. He had a visit day/overnight at Wash U and has an upcoming overnight/accepted student day at Pomona and Swarthmore. Financial aid is similar at all schools so that is not a deciding factor. He def. is not a “partier” and does not imagine himself joining a fraternity but loves to be involved in many organizations/clubs . He is also not an athlete but loves the outdoors including hiking and biking. His major is likely to be either history, English with creative writing emphasis, economics, history or political science. Both schools seem great for these majors, both seem to have critical inquiry courses and both seem to have nice students. Thoughts?

When he visited overnight at Wash U the students in the dorms asked where he was admitted to and when he mentioned Pomona they all unanimously said “GO TO POMONA” but besides saying they preferred California weather didn’t seem to have other reasons to say Pomona was preferable over Wash U.

Based on what you described as your son’s interests, particularly, “loves the outdoors including hiking and biking.” I can’t imagine there’s a better fit for him than Middlebury.
