Rejected and it was my top choice. Oh well. Had a bunch of demonstrated interest and great scores, just not a stellar gpa (did take a load of honors). Good luck to everyone else!
Accepted! A bit of good news after some not-so-great news from other schools. This process is so random. I was rejected from Tulane but got into W&L and UVA. I think W&L saw how I was a good fit for the school and Tulane saw how I wasn’t. Congrats to everyone else accepted and good luck to everyone with decisions that haven’t come out yet!
Does anyone when decisions come out for Waitlisted applicants? Also, do we have to send second semester grades to be considered?
It varies by year, but W&L tends to take a fair number of students from the wait list. Offers usually are made in the first two weeks of May.

My daughter was accepted but with very little aid. Ironic since she applied because of their reputation for generosity. Got much more from some other schools. I hope a wait listed student can take her spot.
I got rejected but I’m trying to figure out if the rejection letters are more personalized or based off standard templates. Would anyone compare with me?
waitlist。。Probably because I am an international student and requested a lot of aid.
See my post yesterday on the number of Wait List admits last year in the “cheating on application number” thread. About 2000 applications are offered a Wait List spot. About 750 of those offered a Wait List spot take one. They have averaged about 90 Wait List admits per year over the past 8 years. This year the school had fewer applications (about 5100 versus about 5400 last year ) and accepted more students than last year at this time (1157 versus 1086). They are trying to reduce use of the Wait List but will still use it. They start to take people off the Wait list in mid-April if the yield looks soft. They continue to accept students from the Wait List as long as they need to which means well into the summer. They have to balance budgets as well so that impacts those accepted from Wait List. If Wait Listed there is a chance to get in. Return the interest card and send them a letter that says you will enroll if accepted if it is your first choice.
Accepted! When do we find out about other merit aid that isn’t the Johnson? (Their website alludes to other “honors scholarships” you’re considered for through the Johnson application)
The Johnson Scholarships have both a need and merit component (about 1/2 the recipients are pure merit and the other 1/2 have significant need). Unless you were invited to the Johnson competition the only pure merit scholarships they offer are for National Merit Scholars. I think they are called Gaines, and I think are for $5000 a year. The school used to offer more pure merit scholarships but eliminated them. If a student is invited to the Johnson competition and has need they can get an honor scholarship.
Facebook page for Class of 2020? Or is there none?
@Mehdiocre Yep. there are actually 2, but we use the groupme instead
My son was accepted from the waitlist very early last year. It seems they accepted a few from the waitlist every
week. He was excited to have been accepted and has loved his Freshman year. Hang tough this may still be the place for you!
@stodghill Link me please
@Mehdiocre I tried posting links and they didn’t work. If you search on Facebook “Washington and Lee Class of 2020” you’ll be able to find them
