Tulane is very special! Congratulations to your daughter!
Is your D21 still considering WL?
International student accepted.
Sheād love to - itās where she wants to go. But at $81K COA, Iād have to work til Iām 90. Sheās an alternate for a scholarship - we just have to cross our fingers it comes through.
Still, it was a big confidence boost for her to get in. Iām looking forward to seeing their stats/acceptance rate, etc. The school is very impressive; everyone helpful and nice, even when we visited for a self tour. I do believe it would offer the attention and opportunity for close relationships that she would really crave.
So I have my fingers crossed. W&L is very generous - but itās hit or miss. Weāre on the miss side. I hope it works out though.
Youāre definitely still in the scholarship race - a lot of the recipients I know are actually turning W+L down, so your daughter has a solid chance! Good luck, hoping for the best for yāall!
Thanks. We are in on the āone ofā scholarships - so we have to hope.
Honestly, I canāt imagine anyone would turn it down but you are correct, they do. I mean, I imagine if you get into a perceived higher ranked school and you have demonstrated need (most higher ranked donāt have merit) - it could make sense.
I can see where some kids just arenāt comfortable there for whatever reason.
Weāve ācounted it outā but will not deposit anywhere until the last minute just in case.
With alternates, you donāt know where you are on the list - do they have two or eight.
Itās all good though and a huge congrats for the individual who own it. The Johnson - itās off the charts impressive.
My daughter wants to end up in DC - and we met a professor - and while the name isnāt huge nationally, within the political arena, itās very respected.
Appreciate your good words!!
You know Johnsonās saying āno thanks?ā before Ivy day?
I do remember one person commented he chose the UNC version insteadā¦itās higher up in this chain.
I do think they get turndowns - as unlikely as it would seem.
One CC poster last year turned down the Johnson for a BS/MD program seat.
Yes! I know a few people who got scholarships at Vandy and similar schools. Others are choosing John Hopkins (pre-med) or other T20s. To be honest, the Johnson program doesnāt give many benefits other than cash, so if you qualify for financial aid at other schools the Johnson is still great but not amazing. Also, some of the minorities Iāve talked to are a little uncomfortable w the diversity/Greek life on campus, so W+L simply might not be a good fit for some students
has anyone from the waitlist heard anything back?
My daughter unfortunately declined W&L. She was an alternate for the Weinstein but was informed the student accepted. It amazes me anyone would turn down. Off to College of Charleston where she is a Charleston Fellow and Intl Scholar.
Good luck to all who go to W&L. What an amazing school with such an incredible campus.
Is having the photo release form option under upload documents a sign that you got in?
