Washington and Lee College Life?

I've heard interesting things about W&L life - I really don't know whether to believe then or not.
That its 90% greek life? (there's a lot of drinking?)
There's very little diversity - most people are well off, of the same cultural background and are all involved in some kind of frat/sorority?

I really am not 'into' Greek life nor do I drink/smoke. Will I fit in? I'm from the north and from an upper class family but I really don't like to show my background through what I wear or how I act.

W&L is a fantastic, competitive school where I hoped to matriculate.. but after hearing these things have lessened my interest in W&L (but it's still my number 1 - I'm on the waiting list) I really hope I fit in there even if I don't join a sorority or party every other day.

What IS life like at W&L?

I think you should post this in the W&L subforum as you’re asking about a specific university.

I can only tell you a little as my experience with W&L is limited to a three-day George Washington Honors Scholar competition in Spring 2007.

The Greek scene does dominate W&L, but it’s closer to 75% than 90%. The students do party hard, but they work hard, too. I sat in a few classes and it seemed like the attendance was high. (All the seats were full.) In addition, when I was changing in the gym, I overheard several students’ holding intelligent conversations about the then-current-affairs.

Ah gotcha. I’ll do that thanks :)
