@zhangkristina, I don’t think it is a surprise. Your last name tells all. My feeling is that you have to be ten times better than others.

If you are waitlisted, definitely write a letter and let them know that you are interested and why. I have heard that makes a big difference.

I am also on the waitlist for W&L’s class of 2017. Does anyone know if there has been any movement on the waitlist for this year yet?

I don’t think there’s been any movement yet but I was stalking an old CC blog ( because I have nothing better to do haha) about wait lists at schools and I remember seeing that W&L started using its wait list on April 28th or so…

That being said, don’t hold me to anything!

Last year a friend’s son got off the WL in late May. Of course, prior year patterns are no guarantee of future results.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I guess anytime from now until the end of May would be a reasonable guess. I have emailed them that W&L is my number one choice. I am not to sure what else would be benificial, I guess it’s just a waiting game now :/

I just got a package today from W&L getting off the waitlist! I showed very little interest originally in my application, but after being waitlisted I wrote the dean of admissions a letter about my interest/updates on school.

good luck to everyone!!

Congratulations!!! They called my house yesterday asking for extra papers I am going to send in this week. Do you think it is a good sign they called and asked? I really hope I am as lucky as you! Did your change show up on the applicant portal?

would you mind sharing highlights of your letter?

yeah it showed up on my applicant portal.

i started by talking about why w&l was a good opportunity for me & why i like it, then updated things about how my senior year is going and what activities i’ve been involved in. the whole thing was about 2 paragraphs and i also said it was my first choice.

I got off the waitlist!
