Since there is no thread for W&J, not sure where else to put this discussion, but wanted to see if anyone else has heard back from W&J?
My daughter was accepted EA with the Dean’s Award. It was the one school she applied to that she wasn’t able to visit (we were close but just couldn’t make it work) So she would like to check it out sometime soon. Thanks for starting this thread since there isn’t a subforum.
Congrats!!! I was notified through email that I was accepted last night around 8 PM, but no word about financial aid (though we sent in our FAFSA in October). How long did it take for you to receive financial info?
My daughter didn’t get an email. The acceptance letter and scholarship info came via snail mail, and the FA info came 2-3 weeks later. Congrats to you as well!
My daughter was accepted EA mid-December. She applied on a whim, but the more she researches the college she s liking it more and more. We still have not visited but she was invited to an honor’s weekend in early March. That may be the first time she gets to visit. Did anyone get any need-based aide info yet? Her acceptance letter just included notification of the Dean’s Scholarship for merit.
@paintingflowers and @taverngirl Did you get to visit yet?
@momof6kids we did not get to visit–it’s the only school d applied to that we didn’t get to visit. We were within 2 hours (visiting Allegheny) but just wanted to get home. We are 8 hours away. I’ve heard rumors the town is kind of dumpy but the campus is supposed to be nice. It is doubtful d will attend; even with a $28,000 scholarship it is the most expensive school she’s been accepted to so far. We didn’t get any FA, just some loans.
D was invited to two other honors programs but not W&J…may I ask your d’s stats?
@taverngirl I was accepted into W&J in December of 2017. I was awarded the presidential scholarship which is $29,000 and was also invited to join the Washington Fellows Program. I also received the Good Neighbor award and received some additional grants.
Here are my stats:
4.524 weighted gpa
1290 SAT
I’ve taken 6 AP courses and have over 200 service hours
@taverngirl
My daughter has a 4.0 unweighted.
1150 SAT
Varsity Soccer/ district champs and elite 8 in states and Varsity Lacrosse
NHS
Class Congress and school board rep
Manager of the school store based enterprised
President of her DECA club and competes at National level
Works 2 part-time jobs after school
Has 2 unpaid work study internships in Marketing
Her SATs were not great so I was surprised she had an invite, but I assume it was for her leadership.
