General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
I am surprised because I see my application as sort of a risk for colleges. I appear smart, but not the hardest or most productive worker. It was a crapshoot, and I am very happy I got in. I hope the rest of my colleges see/saw me in as good a light as WUSTL.

Congrats to all the rest accepted; good luck to the waitlisted; And I wish all those rejected good luck at the rest of their schools.

My DS was thrilled to get accepted to Arts & Sciences.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!

I wonder what the admit rate is, hmm... Though they do waitlist EVERYBODY. Some of the waitlisted people on here are truly INCREDIBLE and I don't understand their admissions policies haha

Decision: ACCEPTEDACCEPTEDACCEPTED

STATS:[ul]
[] SAT I: 760 M // 740 CR // 800 W
[] SAT IIs: 730 Math 1C // 680 Spanish w/Listening i *
[] ACT: 33 Composite (don't remember different sections)
[] GPA: 3.65 UW // 4.45 W
[] Rank: School doesn't rank but gives a general +/- 5% range, I estimated that I'm like top 12 or 13%
[] Other stats: I have like a bagazillion extracurrics on both natl and local levels... I've done some pretty interesting things with my life. I'm too excited right now too list them...but I really don't think they're THAT much more spectacular than anything the average admitted student has done.
[/ul]
SUBJECTIVE:[ul]
[] Essays: I guess that it was good...I spent a really long time on it and got lots of positive reviews from CC people. I liked it but I didn't know if the admissions committee would
[] Teacher Recs: Physics & English teacher...My physics teacher is really tight (he participated in some of the same ECs that I did when he was in high school) and everyone loves him. The schools that I didn't have him write my letters for I didnt' get into and the ones I DID have him write a rec for I have all gotten into...hmm...oh, and my 11th grade english teacher, he doesn't teach at my school anymore but I suppose he must have written me good recs if i got in!
[] Counselor Rec: My counselor loves me. She's also the head of counseling at my (kinda big) school...maybe that gave me extra cred? IDK
[] Hook (if any): Legacy...but my anti-hook is that my mom has never given them money & I've never visited campus.
[/ul]LOCATION/PERSONAL:
[ul]
[] State or Country: MD all the wayyy
[] School Type: public (but I'm in full IB)
[] Ethnicity: white
[] Gender: female
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: gosh i don't know. I assume my essay was a strength.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I guess legacy...I NEVER expected to get in b/c I'm not in the top 10% of my class. Washu was a SUPER reach. I really hope that someone who isn't in the top 10% reads this post next year and feels really encouraged to apply to WashU! I'm so excited right now ahhhhhh! I've already called like everyone I know! Oh and to the people who got referred or dejected (huh?) I'm really sorry and I hope it all works out in the end...I got flat-out rejected from my ED school but I've mostly moved on with my life [/ul]
CONGRATS CLASS OF 2012!!
I want to go find somewhere in MD or DC this weekend that sells WashU t-shirts and wear it to school next week!!

Oh, and if you happen to read this and you live in Montgomery County or DC, we should plan a WashU party sometime ;)

wow no rejections

I cannot imagine that they waitlist 15,000 people, but who knows....

Although only few, but there are rejections posted on this thread.
