Even still, they waitlist a ridiculous amount of people. The amount of acceptances fits in with typical CC style but the waitlists are all over the board where there typically would be rejections.

I agree. Or some even have exact the same scores as the accepted ppl.
It's really ambiguous so I guess they look at more than just stats.

I was also waitlisted. I thought the letter was a little strange. Most waitlist letters tell you not to count on anything and they take very few people from the waitlist. This letter said that they carefully considered my credentials and while they are not able to offer me a place in the class at this time, they would very much like to work with me if there are openings in the class. Does anybody else think that is a strange waitlist letter? As though they intentionally took fewer students and expect to get to the waitlist.

"they waitlist a ridiculous amount of people. The amount of acceptances fits in with typical CC style but the waitlists are all over the board where there typically would be rejections."

I think that WUSTL is nice to waitlist people instead of rejecting them outright. They don't want to hurt people's feeling, especially students with high stats. Schools like Stanford, are known for their arrogance by rejecting people with perfect stats outright, which I don't think is the right thing to do.

Waitlisted!

No surprise there, I guess...

I do want to know the percentage of people that get waitlisted by WUSTL each year. That would be an interesting statistic.

*Decision: Waitlisted *

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
Congrats to everyone who got in!

I'm into engineering!

My stats are comparable to everyone else's so I won't bother with them. The only different thing I'll say is that my essay was pretty unorthodox - it was the topic of your choice and was erm, different. So to next years applicants, don't be afraid to do something wacky (if you can pull it off obviously) instead of some essay about your inspirational great grandfather or something. I was told that before too but I was still a little freaked... so don't worry!

Is there any sort of admitted students weekend or anything? I'm guessing not since I didn't really find any info for one...

did someone say 15,000 waitlisted...how do you know...

my d was waitlisted.
Visited school. took interview and applied for Mylonas and Friends of Music Scholarships. Hopefully showed lots of interest.
Financial Need: Very much in need

I really wanted my d to apply since I thought the school had a lot of what she was looking for. As a compromise, she applied, but was never in love with the place. Nonetheless, the old self-esteem has taken a little hit.
