It seems as if the admit rate was between 6-7% this year. On the letter that was posted online, it said there were over 22,000 applicants, and about 1350 were admitted. Thats about a 6.1% admit rate.

Yeah, admit rate is DEFINITELY NOT 6-7%. No college admits that low an acceptance rate!

A lot of WashU acceptees have qualifications to go to Ivies and other WashU overlap schools like Northwestern. They're shooting for 1,350 people to enroll and matriculate, but they've probably admitted at least double that number as a cushion.

The admit rate is probably around 18- 20% (what is was other years) so i'm guessing about 4400 kids got accepted and out of those they expect about 1350 to accept the offer. Then if they don't get 1350, they move on to the kids who were waitlisted. I hear WashU also waitlists over-quaified students so that they increase their yield (the number out of the kids accepted who actually attend).

Are there any stats for this year?
College board says the acceptance rate is 17 percent. Is that pretty much consistent for every year?
If thats the case I guess Washu accepted around 3500 ppl.

Hi Tsenguun....I can't imagine that they waitlist everyone who isn't accepted, but in the past, I have heard that the waitlist is definitely longer than the acceptance list...the only rejections on CC so far are those who were deferred in ED and now rejected (how much longer can they make these people hold out....)....

The hard thing about deciding whether or not you accept the waitlist is that it's only March 15th; we still have no idea about other acceptances.

Also, you have to take in consideration that those who were actually rejected are less likely to come on this thread....much less post the fact that they've been rejected. Most likely they've moved on to some other school's forum.
