Washington University in St. Louis WAITLIST****

Hey guys this is Sasha, I was just wondering how does waitlisting work.

I got into Berkeley and I want to go there for pre-med, but I want to wait and find out if I got into WUSTL. The thing is WUSTL decisions come out after May 1 which is the deadline for Berkeley's "Intent to register".

What should I do. I realize that WUSTL has a better pre-med but if I just throw away Berkeley phenomenal educational opportunity for the possibility that I might get in, only to find that I didn't.

Thanks.

I don’t know why you think WUStL has better pre-med. Both schools will prepare you for med school.

I know that much. Also Thanks for the comment, but I feel like WASHU is a safer school in terms of getting into a better medical school. Berkeley is outstanding in many ways, but as a school with a majority of engineers and the like, it is not considered an ideal environment for a future doctor like me.

OP, my suggestion is to accept Berkeley if that is your next choice after washu. Washu waitlist chances are very low to none. If you feel you have done everything to inform washu you are still interested and you get lucky to be accepted, that would be great. But to protect yourself, you will have to accept Berkeley and pay their fee and take it as a financial loss if you decide to go to washu.

Submit the SIR for Berkeley! Schools WANT you to have a college to go to in the fall, since getting off the waitlist is by no means guaranteed. If you get accepted off the waitlist for WUSTL, you can withdraw your SIR from Berkeley. You won’t be getting your tuition deposit back if you chose to withdraw it, but if you don’t get in WUSTL and miss the SIR deadline, you won’t be able to go to either schools (it’s also only $100, which honestly isn’t a lot compared to tuition prices).
Good luck!

Wait Really! Only a $100…wow thanks!
