Seeing as there isn't an official Washington University Transfer thread, I decided to make one. Has anyone heard back yet?

Nope, I probably still have another month left. I submitted my app around March 15th but my college transcript didn’t get there until like 3 days ago. Kill me now por favor.

Yeah. I was accepted

@GZAsuu So which school did you apply to within WashU and are you considering other options? Where did you transfer from?

art/sci
also considering carleton, grinnell
i’m not really sure i want to say. it could out me pretty quickly. sorry. let’s just say a large state school in the midwest

Hey guys!
I’m a current student at WashU who transfered in last fall. If you have any questions about life as a transfer student, please don’t be afraid to ask!

Just logged into the WUSTL pathway in photography class. Greeted with an admissions decision. It was a one sentence rejection.

@UnicornFantasy

Sorry to hear that. Tough break, man (or woman!)

My materials were complete in the admissions office on March 15, but I still haven’t heard back yet. I got an email last week saying my app was still under review and that I should hear back shortly, but I still haven’t. Anyone in the same situation?

Rejected.

SAT: 2230
SAT II: Chem (780) MathII (790)

Highschool GPA 3.6 at top 10 school in US.
College GPA 3.93

Freshman Senator

selective acapella group

internship at Tokyo University (recommendation included)

residential leader

Great recommendations from teachers.
Well articulated essays (of course, not objective).

I am thoroughly disappointed, but congratulations to all of those who were accepted! You deserve a great education.

Does anyone know how decisions are being released? I submitted my application on March 29, and the admissions website said that I would hear back from them in about 30 days. However, I still haven’t heard anything…should I give them a call or just keep waiting?

@mikimm:
I think you should call them…30 days has passed… and I hear back from WashU exactly 30 days…so hope it helps

I decided to go ahead and call the admissions office, and they told me that they’re holding onto a bunch of decisions right now and planning to release them all at once sometime before the end of next week. The anxiety is kicking in more than ever now…

Just got into WashU! I applied to a number of other schools, including a handful of Ivies… but wow, transferring was tough this year. I’ve heard reports that it’s been the most difficult year on record (Yale reporting 2% and Dartmouth 4%), so to the previous posters who were rejected, don’t feel bad at all. As for that one sentence rejection? Yeah, WashU’s pretty callous when it comes to turning students down. I was denied last year as a high school senior, and they were pretty brutal. Sweet sweet revenge WashU! haha

I’d love to hear about WashU transfer life, because it’ll be a tough choice between there and Emory (my current school), especially given the GPA wipe that happens to transfer. Is it easy to become integrated into campus life? Good number of extracirricular opportunities?

Another quick question: what’s WashU’s policy on the number of majors and minors a person can take? My original plan was to pursue a strong major with a handful of accompanying minors, but Emory only allows for two degrees total, so I’ve been pushed down a double major track. Is Washington University more flexible about this?

For artsci 2 majors and one minor max (or 1 major and 2 minors)…it’s only one degree with multiple majors
Engineering no limit on anything (multiply engineering majors = multiple degrees)
Most other schools I think are same as artsci policy

My application was completed on Mar 10, and I just got admitted to WashU today…(it’s been almost 70 days)…

@wadephz:
Probably they waitlist you? I heard they have “secret” waitlist in transfer students too…

is there a facebook group for fall 2011 transfers?

im 100% percent they have a transfer fb group. i transferred in last year and i also applied as WUSA last sem. WUSAs are REQUIRED to connect w/ their students thru fb and they do create a group. for last year, the group was private
