So, I need to make a tough choice here... These are the two universities I'm seriously considering laying down my deposit for. I plan on majoring in Biology and continuing onto medical school.
My dad values education over all else; he is willing to pay the 42k/year sticker price at WashU which over four years won't be cheap. He claims that the education I'd be getting at a public school would be mediocre and harm my chances at getting into medical school.
However, I don't feel comfortable putting that kind of financial strain on my parents- and I feel like UT Austin would be the better choice in the long run. Also, I have friends who have committed to UT Austin and I'd love to join them. I wouldn't know anyone if I went to WashU, and I understand that the experience might be beneficial.
So- What school should I put down my deposit for?

Make new friends in college. Come to Wash U. :)

Those are the two schools that I am considering as well! But, for vastly different reasons. I am considering Texas for the college experience as well as pretty good academics. But wash you offered quite a lot of money and has great academics, but less fun for me. Probably going to go with ball shoe. Tough choice, yet no one seems to understand. Good luck

Haha typos #siri

They’re completely different. UT is a giant school of 40,000. WashU has 6,000 undergrads. The education level at UT is good, but I’d say WashU has them beat (we also have one of the best med schools in the country, and the highest acceptance rate to med school of graduating premeds*).

But in all honesty, visit both schools. See which you like more – they are very different, and pick where you feel at home.

*As of a couple of years ago. Not sure if that’s still true, but if not, it’s still around 90% and comparable with the Ivies.

Go to UT Austin. If you are premed it really helps to be with a bunch of stupid people because you are graded on a curve. Also, medschools don’t really care where you go to school, but rather what your GPA is.
