Washington University

I'm going to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville this fall. I'm going to try my best to get a 4.0 GPA while attending SIUE.
How long should I attend SIUE if I want to transfer to WashU as a Business major? My Highschool record is around a 2.6 (Bad I know) and I got a 22 on my ACT. Should I retake the ACT and shoot for a 30+ and with a good college transcript (3.8+) apply? Or am I doomed for a 2.6 GPA from high school?

I think you're going to have to go for 4 semesters to make your HS record less meaningful. However, if you can pull a 30+ and a 3.8+ in College, then it's worth a shot to transfer as an incoming Sophomore. If you get rejected then, you will always have another year to keep your grades up and work on essays; I'm sure you'll get in the next time if you're able to keep high grades.

Thanks, and by the way, do you think they would care if I took the regular ACT and not the writing option, since im year 05 and we dont use the new one.

Unfortunately, WashU does not accept any SAT or ACT scores that are taken after high school. I believe that this policy is on their transfer application instructions, in their catalog or both.

Oh, I did not know that. I'm sorry if my information was misleading. If you feel that you do want to try and retake maybe you could get around it by scheduling the ACT for this summer while you're technically not in college yet. I don't know if this will work, just a suggestion.</p>

Thats not good :/ isn't the next ACT this fall?

SAT I/ACT Scores
If you took either the SAT I or ACT during high school, you must submit the test score results as part of your application. Tests taken during college are inadmissible. The scores must be mailed directly to Washington University from the testing service. Use SAT code number 6929 and ACT code number 2386. SAT II (College Board Achievement Tests) are recommended but not required.

Thats on WashU's website, in that case, what top colleges well take ACT/SAT during college?

I would say a majority accept scores taken during college.

Get into the honors program at your university, that will help immensely
