WashU 2024 ED1 Chance Me

Hi, I’m currently a senior in high school applying ED1 to WashU.

I feel like my scores aren’t the best (below average) but in regards to the opportunities offered at my school, I feel like I have excelled.

Stats:
ACT: 32 composite (35W, 32R, 30M, 30S)
SAT: 1460
GPA: 4.7/4.0 unweighted
Rank: 6/561 (Top 1%)
APs: Comp sci principles, Biology(4/5). Currently in CompSci A and Calc BC. My school doesn’t let us do APs until junior year but I was able to do Compsci principles. I was only able to take AP Biology because of scheduling. This year I couldn’t take AP lit because AP CSA was same hour and scheduling didn’t work.

ECs: Senior class president, Student council VP, Former Medical club treasurer, Work with Mannie Jackson foundation as a school leader in our region & attend meetings focused on improving school environment, I’ve been to IL HOSA competition twice and won 1st & 3rd place Public Health and went to international conference, I’m doing an internship at a hospital through my medical occupations class this year, I just got a part time job at TJMaxx, I privately tutor a girl in German, member of NHS/NEHS/GHS/Mu Alpha Theta, Mentor the freshmen council at the school, Also I self-teach myself languages (I naturally acquired 4 languages through home, taught myself Turkish, learning more on my own)

I am Pakistani-American. Muslim girl & wear the hijab.

I’m also from southern IL, 45 minutes from the campus and have been to the campus numerous times - info session, interview, went to an essay workshop on campus, German Day at WUSTL, attended session presented by admissions counsellor who came to my school.

Sorry this is so lengthy, but I’m nervous & excited and I was just wondering about your thoughts on my chances. Thank you!

Chances are decent. If you EDing, you definitely have a shot.

Good friend’s daughter got in off the waitlist with pretty much your exact GPA and test scores. She’s there now and loving it. Good luck!

Only concern might me that the ACT and SAT are slightly low by WashU standards. The kids from my son’s current WashU class who have gotten in with those scores or lower were legacy or URM.

Class rigor looks fine, especially in the content of your school.

Southern Illinois close to St. Louis might confer some advantage, especially since schools in those areas do not get as many students to go to WashU compared to more wealthier areas. And WashU is doing more to accept students from underserved areas. And the ED1 might be another advantage.

Also check Naviance or whatever system your school uses to track college admissions to see how students from your high school have fared in the past with regards to WashU admissions.

Thank you for your response!
Do you know how she did in terms of extracurriculars and classes?

Update: Accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences!

Congratulations!
