WashU Accepted Literally 1/3 Of My Class

Distance guy. Will be contacting coach this summer. We will see.

Hartin GA, I'll be joining the team next year. I was a transfer, but I chose not to run track for my school's track team-academic commitments. I'm a middle distance guy, running 5k and mile (and trying to push my 800 lower).

Would you like to discuss talking to the coach/times through PM?

I work in the Financial Aid office as a work study student. In addition I am one of the URM you speak of who have some the scholarships you speak of, however I can assure you that WashU does not just give out scholarships because of URM status. All Scholarships given are given on a need/merit bases... with a strong influence on need.

In addition it is possible to get one of the merit based scholarships which are not full tuition, but you still have to apply for those

Thank you liltrig06 - That was my point. Merit only scholarships must be applied for and can be from several thousand dollars to half tuition to full tuition to full tuition plus a stipend. These consist of The Danforth and others listed on the WashU site http://admissions.wustl.edu/admissions/ua.nsf/3rd%20Level%20Pages_Scholarships_scholarship_ataglace.htm?OpenPage&charset=iso-8859-1 Any other awards reflect financial need. Some may include merit in the decision process (Elliot), while others are strictly determined by need.

Although programs like the Elliot have a merit factor,

I received the Elliot and it stated that it was "need and merit based." I'm going to assume that it's heavily influenced by need since my "gap" was probably around 20k and WashU gave me 27k, 19k of which was the scholarship. WashU is a very generous school and their FA department was the nicest I've dealt with, and that's not just b/c I received a good package from them.
