Pathway says, “you will receive information from Student Financial Services in a few days.” So I assume that will come separately.

I can’t wait to receive the official acceptance letter!

Financial aid is very good for accepted ED students because you are ahead of the pack. You are the first people in your class to apply for FA, plus you all have a binding contract. The school will help you out a lot so that you can attend.

Thanks, RaVNzCRoFTz! :D

Hey~!
I got in ED TOO!! Can’t wait to know you all!
I didn’t receive the package because I live in China and it will take over 15 days for it to arrive, but I’ve already filled out the enrollment form and paid the enrollment deposit(guess I’m over excited…). And now I am worried the package won’t come. T.T

Did anyone get their package yet?

Never mind, mine just came!

@emngl94

Did it come by UPS or regular mail? What was included?

It came by UPS. It included a binder with the official acceptance letter and other information about what’s next, enrolling, orientation, etc. Exciting stuff!!

awesome! I am in ohio so hopefully mine comes tomorrow. then all I have to worry about is financial aid and then this will all be over!

hey guys! this is the official facebook group now so if anyone wants to join…
we can all get to know each other :)

@emngl94: where are you from? I cant wait to get my package

@nina I’m from Chicago. Yours will probably be there by tomorrow; the box said “express shipping” or something like that. I sent in my enrollment and deposit tonight!

Haha sorry I meant @hesterprynne

Dear god our school is about to be overrun by overachievers…again.

Congrats '16. Some good info to know:

When referring to the school, say WashU. WUSTL is used in branding, ranking, and other official terms. WashU is colloquial.

WUSTL is pronounced “Woo-still”. WashU is “Wash You.” You hopefully didn’t need the pronunciation of the latter of the two.

Our mascot is the bears. Like many other schools. But did you know we have dozens of things named after bears? Dining halls, teams, cafes, quick-e-marts, and even test questions will be punnily named after bears.

You will receive plenty of free stuff. The school spoils you freshman year. Look forward to it.

There are 13 frats and 8 sororaties including roughly ~30% of the student body. The movie Animal House is based off of WashU frats and (on certain weekends) can be representative. Sororities are basically giant, inclusive cliques – they have no houses, and basically just serve as free friends.

WashU has a student club (WUSA League) which is devoted to being friends with freshman. They even bake you stuff after exams to make you feel better.
There is a compliments club. On your way to class on Fridays, they will shout compliments at you. They do not speak, they shout.

If anyone has any questions for a current student, inbox me. Or if you’re from Massachusetts, I’ll probably be seeing you at the send off party over the summer (each state has one, huzzah).

^Thanks emngl94. I’m living NY now so i prob have to wait a few more days.
@nina: do you have any idea when the financial package comes? It said “few days” on the website but I’m traveling away from NY pretty soon :-s

And thanks synth204 for your great information. Just a small concern, I got in to WashU only 3 days ago, and there have been at least 5 people thought that I was going to a school in Seattle. Is WashU that unpopular?

^@Synth204 what is a send off party?

@hesterprynne

Unfortunately the reaction you got about washu being in Seattle (or DC if you live on the East coast) is fairly common. It is not well known in the general public. However Washu is well known and well respected in the academic community, especially the medical fields. So the people who count down the line like employers and med/grad school admission committees will know that you went to one of the best school in the country. Don’t worry about it.

synth204, WUSTL is pronounced WOOS-tull, not WOO-still.

A send-off party is something hosted by a student at their home before you go off to college (usually in early August) where you meet up with other WashU families (both of to-be-freshman and current students).

And WashU, outside of the midwest, is not very well known (the student union sells shirts that say “It’s in Saint Louis, d@mmit!”). Grad schools, med schools, and employers all recognize WashU being what it is, but don’t expect a run of the mill American to
but that’s quite okay.

@rav: You’re being pedantic, but WOOS-tull is a better way to pronounce it I suppose.

Thanks all for valuable information!

@synth204: It seems EVERYONE choose Wash U for Pre-med or majors like bio/chemistry engineering…BUT I want to study social sciences like political science or political economics in Wash U, and I’m REALLY curious about the undergraduate programs in social sciences…How would you make comments on these programs? Thanks~!
