WashU Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Decided to create this thread since I haven’t seen one yet.

Here are my stats!

College: Public Research University – Freshman with Junior Standing, Honors College
Major: Biological Sciences, Pre-med
ACT: 34
College GPA: 4.00
First Semester Courses (15 hours): Calculus I, Cell Biology, Intro to Psych, Honors Core Class
Second Semester Courses (18 hours): Calculus II, Genetics, Academic Writing II, Honors Core Class, General Chemistry II (Lab, Lecture)
ECs: Shadowing a physician, volunteer at a clinic, research assistant at my school’s college of medicine in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, part of my schools TEDx chapter, and wrote a research article for my school’s Honors College journal for health-related students.

My high school GPA is pretty low for WashU, but I’m hoping my essays, grades, letter of recs, and extracurriculars make up for it.

I’m currently a political science major & first-year at a T40.

High School GPA: 3.85 UW/4.28 W (doesn’t rank but probably top 12%)

ACT: 33 (didn’t send though)
Current College GPA: 4.0
High school ECs: mock trial captain, big mock trial awards, founded non-profit, debate, some really good leadership positions/did important things with these positions, some other stuff
Courses: Challenging and diverse course-load

College ECs: 2 leadership positions in student government, 20 hr/week internship last semester, still running non-profit (just not as physically involved due to change of location)

Essays: Good

LORs: Should be good. Have high As in the classes of the professors I’m asking for LORs from. One of the knows me really well because of my research interests and I participate a lot in the other class

Best of luck to everyone else!

When will they release their admission decisions? If rolling, when will they start?

@kcasssuu based on this link (https://admissions.wustl.edu/apply_site/Pages/Transfer-Application-Calendar.aspx), they mail the decisions in Mid-May. From what I understood from last year’s thread, students mainly received a decision around that time.

Soo idk what I said I didn’t send my ACT. I did in fact send it to WUSTL. I think I copy and pasted from a test-option school thread

When are we supposed to hear back?

According to the common data set, they’ll release in mid-May… supposedly

When trying to sign into the financial aid portal does anyone else get this error: “The type initializer for ‘FAIMLibrary.appproperties’ threw an exception.”

Never mind it doesn’t say that anymore…

Posts here are much fewer than I thought. Maybe a fixed date of notification makes everybody happy

@hyzkxo it’s much less random compared to schools like Northwestern that release in waves. I guess that just means there’s less speculation and more waiting for the release date to come.

what is the transfer acceptance rate?

I believe it was 21.16% from 2017-2018.

Anyone know why it’s so high? lol not complaining, just curious

@falconic It could be that they are unable to fill up their classes with first years so they have extra seats. Also students could be transferring out to “better” schools. Honestly unsure but it’s nice knowing the % is pretty high for WashU

I’m currently at a UC, and I am a junior, but senior standing. I don’t know if any school will accept me b/c I have so many units but my major right now is unique to my school, so I would have to change majors completely, thus take a lot of classes. I’m not sure if this will work against me or not :frowning:

@ilovechicago I heard there’s some guaranteed transfer program for the engineering school that’s partnered with other schools in the area… any idea if this is legit?

@falconic I wasn’t aware of the guaranteed program for engineering, but that’s probably because I’m not applying to the engineering school. I would check their website or FAQs. Reaching out to them would probably be your best bet at getting a straight forward answer.

The Engineering program is a 3-2, not a transfer.

Just curious, is wustl rolling basis?
